Fun Facts about Marcos: The last time Marcos Costa competed at the WNFR, he left with a gold buckle. And the native of Brazil became the first rodeo contestant to earn a gold buckle in an individual event. That was in 2017 and he is more than ready to be back competing in the Thomas and Mack Center again. He had his fifth knee surgery on his right knee in 2018 and came back at the end of the season. In 2019, he finished in 19th place. The horse that he has had the most success on, including winning the world championship is a 14-year-old mare, Sort of Popular, that Marcos calls “Paraguaia.” She also helped him win his last rodeo of the season this year at Salinas, California. After winning his world title, Marcos made a commitment to his longtime girlfriend Keyla Polizello, who is a barrel racer from Brazil making a name for herself in the U.S. as Keyla Costa.
